Protesters have been showing up in overwhelming numbers to demonstrate against what they believe to be an unfair distribution of wealth, and some of the nation's wealthiest celebs are joining them in support of their cause.

Kanye West -- who himself is a multimillionaire -- came to show his support Monday morning with Def Jam record label co-founder and entrepreneur Russell Simmons. According to CNN Money, Simmons is worth $350 million.

After West was mobbed by some very excited protesters, Simmons tweeted "This morning I applaud @kanyewest for using his celebrity to help others. His appearance yesterday mattered!! #occupywallstreet

Simmons continued: "Its tough being @kanyewest people were climbing on him. it was a huge security risk but he just kept shaking hands #occupywallstreet."

West has not made any comments on Twitter.

But West and Simmons aren't the first celebs to drop by the protests. Other notables include Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon and Penn Badgley.

Protesters planned to march past the homes of New York's wealthiest today on the Upper East Side.
