Kim Kardashian and Katie Couric are in a war with words and hashtags.
Couric's "In Touch Weekly" interview published Thursday touched on marriage, Hugh Jackman and the Kardashians. In the article, the journalist said, "I don't understand ... Why are they so famous? I think it's mostly teenage girls that are interested."
Kim Kardashian was less than pleased, especially after receiving a baby gift from Couric. Kardashian let her anger out via Twitter and Instagram, snapping a photo of the gift and card she received from Couric with the hashtags #IHateFakeMediaFriends, #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkS---.
The gift is a white polka dot outfit from Barney's. The card needs a bit of decoding, as some words appear to be cut off from Couric's message.
Kardashian's photo has generated more than 14,000 Instagram comments, many of which focus on her parenting, career and celebrity status. Responses range from "U go, girl!" to "Kim is so tacky!!" and "Really Kim? How classy!" and others that are more vulgar.
Couric is no stranger to public criticism from celebrities. Recently Jennifer Ansiton questioned "Is she a legitimate journalist?" on "Chelsea Lately," according to Fox News.
After she caught wind of Kardashian's posts on social media, Couric released a statement, saying "I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye."
