Lindsay Lohan revealed she knew her share of "Mean Girls" before she played one in Tina Fey's movie.
The 26-year-old actress reacted to an emotional episode "Katie" on Tuesday, which showcased the story of bullied Michigan student Whitney Kropp.
Inspired by the show, Lohan tweeted at Katie Couric that she had experienced bullying in high school.
"I was actually bullied @ my public school when I would leave to film," she posted. "Whenever I came back .?.?. girls & boys would call me names."
Lohan went on to say that her father Michael Lohan's issues with the law also contributed to the torment.
"They would also mock me because of my home situation, when people found out that my father was in jail.." she explained.
"So I can relate to the girls that you spoke with on your show today," she wrote. "I appreciate you reaching out to them. xo"
Lohan said the episode, titled "Bullying: A National Epidemic," had her in tears. She also said she would love to meet the teen and posted the hash tag "stopbullying."
Couric posted one of the messages from Lohan on her website beneath a clip from the show.
