Seasonal exhibits of Long Island wildlife and plants, with a nocturnal animal exhibit, are used to interpret the principles of life sciences at this Nassau County museum, located on an 84-acre preserve; 5 miles of nature trails, cross-country skiing (weather permitting), educational programs, children's birthday parties and scout programs. Small labyrinth was created as an Eagle Scout project of the Boy Scouts. It is made of crushed blue stone gravel and grass, located in the front lawn, adjacent to the butterfly garden.


Museum open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thur.-Sun. all year; Preserve open daily and closes at dusk
