NYCB buys naming rights to Westbury theater

Get ready to learn a new venue name.

The NYCB Family of Banks, which include New York Community Bank and New York Commercial Bank, Wednesday purchased the naming rights to The Theatre of Westbury, creating the new NYCB Theatre at Westbury.

"It's very exciting when two local institutions join together to offer New Yorkers the chance to see great entertainment right in their own backyard," New York Community Bancorp chairman and chief executive Joseph R. Ficalora said in a statement.

Terms of the multiyear agreement with the Live Nation-operated venue were not disclosed. "NYCB is committed to leveraging the emotional appeal of live music in a meaningful way to reach, engage, and connect with the community and their bank customers," said Kevin Morrow, president of Live Nation New York.

The venue, which began as the Westbury Music Fair in 1956, had been without a corporate sponsor since its agreement with Capital One Bank ended in October 2009.
