Mo'Nique, the comedian-turned-incredibly-serious-actress who played a monstrous mother in the gritty 2009 drama "Precious," will help host the upcoming Oscar nominations announcement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Mo'Nique will join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak, who usually does the honors, at a news conference Jan. 25 at 5:30 a.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

It's another step toward insider status for a woman who was initially accused of refusing to properly campaign for the movie that launched her acting career. She eventually won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
