Description:

In New York, it's impossible to find a theater with more history than the Bardavon. Opened in 1869 as the Collingwood Opera House, the state's oldest continuously operating theater has housed tens of thousands of performances by legendary entertainers ("Buffalo" Bill Cody and John Philip Sousa), famed writers (Mark Twain) and a few commanders in chief (Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and William Howard Taft). More recent acts to grace the stage include Al Pacino, Bob Dylan, Cher, B.B. King, Lou Reed, Chris Cornell and OK Go.

Comedy: The state's oldest theater is bound to have had a few iconic comedians attached to its history. Henny Youngman, Steven Wright, Milton Berle and "Monty Python" alumnus Eric Idle have all performed at the venue, which includes current comedic acts as part of its roster.  -Chris Serico
