THE MOVIE “Apalachin”

THE DEAL The star of “Scream” and “Never Been Kissed” will play the lead role in an indie drama about a historic event in upstate New York, Deadline reports. Arquette will play a trooper who in 1957 helped break up a notorious mob summit with the Genovese family and some 50 other members in the small town of Apalachin. Danny A. Abeckaser (“Holy Rollers”) directs from a script by Jon Carlo.

THE DEAL The musical artist born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett will make his feature film debut this fall in a horror comedy about a satanic pizza shop. Rising studio A24 (this year’s art-horror hit “Hereditary”) released the first trailer for the film, in which a town’s pizza deliverers are being murdered by an unknown killer nicknamed The Werewolf. Chance and Zazie Beetz star as pizza-shop employees who team up to solve the mystery. “Slice” is the first feature from Austin Vesely, who directed the music videos for Chance's songs "Sunday Candy" and "Angels."

THE DEAL For the third consecutive year, the actress opens her Brookhaven farm to the public for a night of outdoor film screenings presented by Patchogue’s Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center. The evening lineup includes shorts by Plaza film and animation students, two short documentaries created on the farm itself and the documentary “I Am Eleven,” which features interviews with 11-year-olds from 15 countries.
