THE DEAL The actress is considering a role in a biopic about a real-life hoax, according to The Hollywood Reporter. James Franco has already agreed to appear in the film about literary sensation JT LeRoy, a transgender author who turned out to be a false identity created by writer Laura Albert and played in public by Savannah Knoop for six years. The film will be based on Knoop’s memoir, “Girl Boy Girl.” Helena Bonham Carter is also considering a role.

THE MOVIE “Shepherds and Butchers”

THE DEAL The Bee Gee wrote and performed a new song, “Angels,” for this film starring Steve Coogan, according to Variety. Producer Anant Singh revealed Gibb’s involvement Tuesday, just a few days before “Shepherds and Butchers,” a drama set in apartheid-era South Africa, makes its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on Feb. 13. Joining Gibb on “Angels” is South African singer Vusi Mahlasela.

THE MOVIE “Tom of Finland”

THE DEAL Protagonist Pictures will handle worldwide sales of Dome Karukoski’s biopic about the iconic Finnish artist, reports. Touko Laaksonen, a World War II veteran later persecuted for his homosexuality, became famous during the 1970s for his erotic drawings of sailors, bikers, cops and leathermen. He died in 1991 and is revered as an icon of gay culture. The film’s cast has not yet been officially announced.
