The musical “La La Land,” starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, won the audience award for best narrative feature at the 24th Hamptons International Film Festival.
The audience awards, based on ballots submitted after screenings, were announced Tuesday. The big win for “La La Land,” about two Los Angeles dreamers who fall in love, is another feather in the cap for a movie that is already predicted to win the Oscar for best picture.
The audience award for best documentary went to “I Am Not Your Negro,” about an unfinished manuscript by author James Baldwin. Hamptons audiences chose “The White Helmets,” a Netflix film about rescue workers in Aleppo, as best short.
