WHO Meryl Streep

THE MOVIE "Florence"

THE DEAL Here's a stretch: Streep will play a performer without any talent in an upcoming biopic. According to Deadline.com, "Florence" is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, an opera soprano of the early 20th century whose terrible voice became so renowned that she eventually performed a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall. Hugh Grant will play her romantic partner and manager, St. Clair Bayfield. The director is Stephen Frears, of "Philomena."

WHO Natalie Dormer

THE MOVIE "The Forest"

THE DEAL The actress known as Margaery Tyrell on HBO's "Game of Thrones" has been cast as the lead in a supernatural thriller directed by Jason Zada. She'll play a young woman who journeys to the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mount Fuji to find her missing sister. The film is based on an idea by David S. Goyer, a screenwriter best known for his work on Christopher Nolan's "Batman" movies. Dormer, 32, also will be seen as Cressida in the upcoming "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" films.

THE MOVIE "A Hard Day's Night"

THE DEAL The classic Beatles film, digitally restored and with aremastered soundtrack to celebrate its 50th anniversary, will screen locally as part of the PAC MAC Festival, a multimedia, multivenue event spearheaded by the Patchogue Arts Council. The festival continues through Sunday.

INFO Thursday at 7:45 at the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, 20 Terry St., Patchogue. Tickets are $9. 631-438-0083; plazamac.org
