WHO Channing Tatum
THE MOVIE "Magic Mike XXL"
THE DEAL The sequel to the male-stripper comedy-drama "Magic Mike" began filming Monday, according to an unverified Twitter account that belongs to director Steven Soderbergh. Tatum, who returns as Michael Lane, also tweeted from the film's set, posting a picture of his character's new truck, which features a logo for the furniture-design company he always dreamed about. The movie's cast includes Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Andie MacDowell, Amber Heard and Jada Pinkett Smith. It's due in theaters next summer.
WHO Kevin Smith
THE MOVIE "Clerks 3"
THE DEAL The filmmaker says the box-office flop of his horror-comedy "Tusk" last month has ironically helped him fund a sequel to "Clerks," his smash debut from 1994. During a taping of his podcast Friday, Smith said that although moviegoers didn't turn out for "Tusk" -- the story of a man transformed into a walrus against his will -- investors were impressed by the movie. On his podcast, Smith said, "Everybody that's like, 'He failed, he failed,' I'm like: Thank you, I failed into 'Clerks 3.' "
