WHO George Clooney
THE MOVIE "Up in the Air"
THE DEAL The Hamptons International Film Festival recently added this big-studio feather to its cap, scheduling a 9:30 p.m. sneak preview on Oct. 10. It's a Paramount Pictures comedy-drama, due out Nov. 25, starring Clooney as a frequent flier who meets his match in Vera Farmiga; the director is Jason Reitman ("Juno"). The festival also added "The Young Victoria," a period drama starring Emily Blunt, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson and Rupert Friend ("Cheri").
THE MOVIE "Anvil! The Story of Anvil!"
THE DEAL This documentary about a 1980s metal band that refuses to die - like a real-life Spinal Tap - became such a success in theaters that the group wound up touring with AC/DC, playing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and landing a deal for a new album. (The band also appears Tuesday on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien.") For those who missed the film, VH1 and VH1 Classic will show it Saturday at 10 p.m. The DVD comes out Tuesday.
THE MOVIE "Wounded Knee"
THE DEAL In 1973, the American Indian Movement sought a redress of broken treaties by seizing the South Dakota town of Wounded Knee and launching a 71-day armed standoff with the FBI. Stanley Nelson's documentary chronicling the incident will be screened this weekend as part of a half-day benefit that includes American Indian speakers and musicians.
