THE DEAL The young star of 2008's "Mamma Mia!" is set for the lead role in this sci-fi thriller about a world where people stop aging at 25, Variety reports. The writer-director is Andrew Niccol, whose credits include "Gattaca" and "The Truman Show." Meantime, Warner Bros. is reportedly ramping up its long-dormant update of the 1976 classic "Logan's Run," about a world in which people stop aging at 30.
THE MOVIE "Sex Ed"
THE DEAL The child star of "The Sixth Sense," now 22, is set for the lead role in this comedy from Los Angeles-based production company MPCA ("A Love Song for Bobby Long"), according to The Hollywood Reporter. Osment will play a newly minted high-school teacher assigned to teach sexual education despite being a virgin. Osment's most recent film was the 2007 teen basketball drama "Home of the Giants."
THE MOVIE "It Don't Pay to Be an Honest Citizen"
THE DEAL What do William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and painter Rackstraw Downes have in common? They all starred in this 1984 independent movie about a young Brooklynite hunting for some stolen film. Burroughs plays a mafioso, Ginsberg is a shady lawyer and a very young Vincent D'Onofrio stars as the thief. Downes, currently enjoying a retrospective at the Parrish Art Museum, appears as a snarling short-order cook.
