Movie buzz: Sizzling Bacon, 'Local Hero's' welcome

THE DEAL The ubiquitous actor has signed on to star with Steve Carell, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Carell plays a man whose wife (Julianne Moore) wants a divorce; Bacon plays her studly co-worker. Ryan Gosling stars as a smooth-talking life coach; Emma Stone also appears.

THE MOVIE "Local Hero"

THE DEAL The Glasgow-born writer-director ("Gregory's Girl," "Housekeeping") makes a rare public appearance accompanying his beloved 1983 film about a rookie oil executive (Peter Riegert) whose boss (Burt Lancaster) wants to decimate a quaint Scottish fishing village. Riegert will also appear in person.
