WHO Kiefer Sutherland

THE DEAL What took so long? Twentieth Century Fox's film and television divisions are finally moving forward on a big-screen version of the wildly popular action series, Variety reports. Story details remain under wraps, though the premise has Jack Bauer heading to Europe. (The pitch came from versatile screenwriter Billy Ray, of "Flightplan" and "Shattered Glass.") The project is in the preliminary stages, though Sutherland is said to have hopes for a movie franchise.

WHO Michael Douglas

THE MOVIE "Solitary Man"

THE DEAL Though best known for Hollywood thrillers, Douglas is no stranger to indie films, and this one - which had its U.S. premiere at last year's Hamptons International Film Festival - has just been picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Douglas plays a white-collar crook and incorrigible ladies' man who befriends a shy college kid (Jesse Eisenberg). Susan Sarandon, Mary-Louise Parker and Danny DeVito also star.

WHO Kristen Stewart

THE MOVIE "The Yellow Handkerchief"

THE DEAL The star of "Twilight" changes course in this indie drama based on a short story by Pete Hamill about two teenagers (one played by Eddie Redmayne) who pick up a hitchhiking ex-con (William Hurt) trying to turn his life around. Though the film doesn't open until Feb. 26 in Manhattan, the Great Neck Arts Center is hosting a sneak preview.

INFO Thursday night at 7:30 at Clearview Squire Cinemas, 115 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck. Tickets are $15. 516-829-2570;
