Syosset native Natalie Portman is joining Jude Law in the upcoming movie “Vox Lux,” Variety reports.
Variety says that according to the plot description released by the studio “ ‘Vox Lux’ follows the rise of a singer named Celeste from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop superstardom. The film spans 15 years and traces important cultural moments through the singer’s eye, starting in 1999 and ending in the present day.”
The soundtrack will feature all original songs by Grammy-nominated artist Sia, with principal photography starting on Thursday in New York City.
Portman, an Oscar winner for “Black Swan” (2010), will next star in “Annihilation,” a sci-fi thriller hitting theaters on Feb. 23. She’s also scheduled to host “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 3.
Variety said Portman will replace Rooney Mara, who was originally attached to the movie.
