THE DEAL The former member of the Jonas Brothers is in talks to star in James Franco's indie film, according to Produced by Franco's Rabbit Bandini company and directed by Andrew Neel, "Goat" tells the story of two brothers whose loyalties are tested when they pledge the same college fraternity. Ben Schnetzer, a rising young actor who recently played a gay-rights activist in the Golden Globe-nominated "Pride," also is in talks to join the cast.

THE DEAL The Oscar-winning actress is launching a film festival in an usual location: Bentonville, Arkansas. Davis is teaming with Walmart, which is based in that city, and other sponsors to create the Bentonville Film Festival to help promote diversity in film. The actress has been a longtime advocate for female visibility in the movies, both on screen and behind the camera, through her Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. The new festival is set for May 5-9 and promises guaranteed distribution for its winning films.


THE MOVIE "Ballet 422"

THE DEAL Jody Lee Lipes' documentary follows Justin Peck, the 25-year-old choreographer of the New York City Ballet, as he attempts to create -- and perform in -- the company's 422nd original piece. The film screens as part of the ongoing Winter Furman Film Series and will be hosted by the producer, Ellen Bar, a 13-year ballerina with the company and its director of media projects.
