THE MOVIE “The Favourite”

THE DEAL The actress earned a nod for Actress of the Year from the London Critics’ Circle, another feather in her cap along the road to the Oscars. Colman, who plays an ailing Queen Anne in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Favourite,” has become a strong awards-season contender, earning nods from the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild. The movie is a favorite itself among the London critics, who gave it 10 nominations, far more than any other film. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 20.

THE MOVIE “Monday”

THE DEAL The Marvel star known to fans as The Winter Soldier recently wrapped production on a romantic drama set in Greece, Deadline reports. In “Monday,” Stan and Denise Gough (“Colette”) play Americans who meet during a summer in Athens and must decide whether their weekend passion can sustain a workweek relationship. Director and co-writer Argyris Papadimitropoulos (“Suntan”) calls his movie “a celebration of bigger-than-life romances, and a love letter to my city.”

THE MOVIE “Rockaway”

THE DEAL The debut feature from writer-director John Budion of East Rockaway will receive a theatrical and on-demand release Jan. 11. Budion’s semi-autobiographical film follows two young brothers (Maxwell Apple and Keidrich Sellati) over a summer in 1994 as they root for the Knicks, battle an abusive father and seek support from a close group of friends (one played by Northport’s Tanner Flood). “Rockaway” was a festival hit that racked up numerous awards over the past year; it will be distributed by the independent Gravitas Ventures.
