THE DEAL The star of “Zoolander 2” is in talks to join the film version of R.J. Palacio’s young-adult novel, according to TheWrap.com. The movie stars Jacob Tremblay (“The Room”) as Auggie Pullman, a boy with a facial deformity who is entering fifth grade at a mainstream school. Wilson could play Auggie’s father opposite Julia Roberts, already cast as the mother. The director is Stephen Chbosky, known for adapting his own young-adult novel “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” into a 2012 film.
THE MOVIE “Danny Says”
THE DEAL Brendan Toller’s documentary on Danny Fields, the manager behind punk-rock icons The Ramones, The Stooges and MC5, will be the first screening for the initial Art House Theater Day on Sept. 24. The group behind the event, The Art House Convergence, describes itself as a collection of “independent, community-based, mission-driven movie theaters” and says it was inspired by the success of Record Store Day, which celebrates independent record retailers. Huntington’s Cinema Arts Centre will be among the 160 theaters participating nationwide.
THE MOVIE “Life, Animated”
THE DEAL Producer Carolyn Hepburn will speak at next week’s screening of this documentary about a young autistic man whose communication breakthrough came from an unlikely place — the animated films of Walt Disney. It’s based on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ron Suskind’s book about his son.
