THE MOVIE "The Wannabe"

THE DEAL A new film featuring the Oscar-winning actress of "Boyhood" has been purchased for U.S. distribution by Entertainment One, according to The film stars Arquette and Vincent Piazza, of "Boardwalk Empire," as a couple so obsessed with the Mafia that the husband attempts to fix the trial of John Gotti during the 1990s. Martin Scorsese produced the film, which was directed by Nick Sandow. Michael Imperioli also stars.

THE DEAL The younger brother of actor Ralph Fiennes will star in a faith-based film from Affirm pictures ("Soul Surfer"). Fiennes will play Clavius, a Roman tribune assigned by Pontius Pilate to dispel rumors that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. The cast includes Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from the "Harry Potter" films), Peter Firth ("Pearl Harbor") and Cliff Curtis ("Whale Rider"). The film is scheduled for release Jan. 22.

THE MOVIE "Mermaids in Paradise"

THE DEAL The actor, best known from TV's "The Office" and the "Hangover" films, is among the producers of the film adaptation of Lydia Millet's comic novel from 2014. The story is about an American couple whose honeymoon turns into a crusade to save mermaids from the clutches of a resort company. Director Jonathan Krisel and his co-writer, Graham Wagner, both of IFC's "Portlandia," sold their idea for the film to Good Universe, which will produce with Helms' Pacific Electric Picture Co.
