“Twilight,” the supernatural soap opera that became a cultural phenomenon, returns to theaters this month to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
That’s right -- it’s been a decade since teenagers worldwide watched Kristen Stewart, as moody high-schooler Bella Swan, fall in love with a handsome vampire, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). The first film to be adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling fantasy series received chilly reviews from critics but became a massive hit that launched a $3.3 billion film franchise.
The film also features Billy Burke as Bella’s clueless father, Anna Kendrick as her chatty friend and Taylor Lautner as the werewolf who tries to win Bella’s heart.
The movie will screen locally on Oct. 21 and 23 at Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas, Regal Deer Park 16 & IMAX, Regal Westbury 12, AMC Stony Brook 17 and Holtsville’s Island 16 Cinema De Lux. Go to fathomevents.com for showtimes and advance tickets.
