A Long Island-based producer of the Dick Cheney biopic “Vice” will host a screening of the film in Huntington on Wednesday.
Jeff Waxman, a Plainview resident, is an executive producer of “Vice” and has more than 20 feature films to his credit, including 2007's “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead,” 2010's “The Fighter,” and 2017 movies “John Wick: Chapter 2” and “mother!” Waxman will take audience questions and chat about the film.
“Vice,” which opens in theaters on Christmas Day, has received polarizing reviews, ranging from “ferociously funny” to “a mess.” Nevertheless, Christian Bale’s transformation into a bald, paunchy, sixty-something Cheney has widely been singled out as impressive. The film is also dominating the Golden Globes with six nominations, including for best comedy/musical and best director for Adam McKay. The support cast includes Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney and Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld.
The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Cinema Arts Centre, 423 Park Ave., Huntington. Admission is $12. Information: 631-423-7611; cinemaartscentre.org.
