This is gonna be a good season after all.
Jacob Lusk's stunning take on Luther Vandross' “A House Is Not a Home” and Casey Abrams' wild “I Put a Spell on You” may be the best opening week performances ever on the show. But even though they are pulling away from the field early, Paul McDonald's inventive “Maggie Mae” keeps him in the running, while Clint Jun Gamboa's “Superstition” marks his attempt at redemption.
Merrick's Robbie Rosen stumbled a bit, but his take on Sarah McLachlan's “Angel” should still be good enough to get him into the finals, though James Durbin's raucous risk on a Judas Priest song and Scotty McCreery's country charms may present a challenge.
On the opposite end of the scale, Jordan Dorsey's awful version of Usher's “OMG” (how would anyone think this was a good idea?) may rank among the worst ever.
