Whoa. Producer Simon Fuller doesn’t do Lee DeWyze any favors by giving him R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts,” even if he adds the choir to cover up the strained vocals and, as Simon Cowell says, his “going off melody.”
Cowell gives him a pep talk to get him to do better next time.
Fuller doesn’t help Crystal Bowersox much either by giving her Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet,” which she wails on, but is hurt by the terrible arrangement and random guitar solos.
Cowell said he’s “almost allergic to that song.” Agreed. Then adds that he thinks she nailed it. Agreed again.
Round Two also goes to Bowersox.
