Nile Rodgers will return to Riverhead with a new festival in August and even more of his famous friends, including Pharrell, Beck and Duran Duran.
The FOLD (short for Freak Out Let's Dance!) Festival is set for Aug. 4 and 5 at the Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead. "This will be a great night of mashing up music cultures just like we used to do in the Woodstock days!" Rodgers wrote on Facebook about the festival.
The eclectic slate for Aug. 4 will include Grammy winner Beck, "Happy" singer-producer Pharrell, country star Keith Urban, separate sets from hip-hop legends Chuck D and Eric B. The Aug. 5 lineup includes British new wavers Duran Duran, R&B legend Chaka Khan, the ever-inventive Janelle Monae, and hip-hop from Q-Tip and Grandmaster Melle Mel, with Chic featuring Rodgers closing out the festival.
Tickets are $137 for general admission to both days and $399 for VIP access through Ticketfly and are on sale now. Riverhead residents will be able to get tickets for $95 at the Martha Clara Vineyards box office, 6025 Sound Ave., or the Suffolk Theater box office, 118 E. Main St., starting Friday. (A driver's license or birth certificate must be shown at the box office to get the reduced rate.)
"In a year of great memories this is another dream coming true," wrote Rodgers on Facebook. Rodgers first brought a festival to the Martha Clara Vineyards, which has a capacity of 10,000, in 2013, when Avicii and Adam Lambert performed with him.
