Major Lazer, Big Sean, Zedd and Camila Cabello will headline this year’s installment of the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 19 and 20.
The two-day festival, which holds Jones Beach Theater’s single-day and weekend attendance records, will feature 40 acts across three stages — including one on the sands of Jones Beach.
John Amato, president of Billboard, the music magazine that produces the event with Live Nation as well as Sunday’s star-studded Billboard Music Awards, says that in its third year the festival will establish its identity.
“We have a soul,” Amato said. “It’s about the experience. Let’s throw the party that Long Island and New York deserve.”
It’s set to be big party, with a mix of established acts like DJ Khaled and T-Pain joining up-and-comers like Lil Yachty and Jack & Jack on the bill.
“We also reflect what the Hot 100 is showing us,” Amato said. “There will be more hip-hop than usual . . . But we also have our core, pop and EDM acts. There’s real depth in the lineup.”
The Hot 100 fest will also have its share of bands, including We The Kings, Echosmith and Capital Cities.
Tickets for the festival go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday through LiveNation.com. Amato said after the success last year of the “Homebase” tickets — which gives fans a reserved seat at the main stage, allowing them to explore the other stages without losing their place — the festival will offer even more “Homebase” tickets this year, including two-day packages that start at $50.
Amato said additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks and that there will be surprises built into both days.
