Mikey Wax seems to be making a hit with Caitlyn Jenner.
The Syosset-raised singer-songwriter's latest single, "Love Always Wins," is being used in promos for Jenner's E! reality series, "I Am Cait," something Wax never expected when he wrote the song immediately after the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage in June.
"I recorded the song to celebrate marriage equality," says Wax, 29. "My best friend, who is gay, inspired the song."
Wax and his manager brother, Jonathan, sent the song to E!, which in February used Mikey's "You Lift Me Up" to promote season 10 of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
"Two hours later, they got back to me and said they loved it," Wax says.
Since then, Wax has also been using "Love Always Wins" to close his live shows during his tour with the band Parachute. "Sometimes we all have to put on a front. This song is about being who you are," he says. "That's the message I want to get out."
