6. Kanye West
Everywhere we turned this year, Kanye was in the headlines, for both good and bad. His album "My Dark Twisted Fantasy" received praise from music critics as the best album of 2010. The hype around the mini-movie for his single "Runaway" was ridiculous, and the controversy with his appearance and subsequent cancelation of a performance on the "Today" show and comments about George W. Bush kept Kanye on our minds this year. Oh yes, and we can't forget about his infamous Twitter rants. What would 2010 have been without the Kanye? Photo Credit: AP

Kanye West, The Strokes, Arcade Fire and Kings of Leon will headline this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 15-17.
This morning's announcement should put to rest the months of speculation surrounding the festival where wild rumors ranging from the Rolling Stones to a reunited Morrissey and Johnny Marr make the rounds for possible headliners.
This year's list does include some surprises, though, including the reunion of Death From Above 1979, who split in 2006, and a festival appearance from Lauryn Hill, whose return to performing is apparently agreeing with her.
Also set for the three-day festival in Indio, Calif., are The Black Keys, Grammy nominees Mumford & Sons, indie-rock leaders The National, Animal Collective and Interpol, and new wave heroes Duran Duran. Get the full line-up here.
