Don't fret: You can get the same guitar as Joan Jett

There's no doubt Joan Jett loves rock and roll - just watch "The Runaways" flick or pick up the recent two-disc Joan Jett and the Blackhearts "Greatest Hits" collection.

But if you really, really want to experience what St. Joan of Rock feels when she gets onstage, well, there's only one thing to do: Pick up the new Joan Jett "Blackheart" Melody Maker from Gibson Guitar.

"I needed a black guitar," the Long Beach resident said in a statement. "This guitar has the same body and the neck runs smooth as silk. I am using it onstage now, and it sounds ferocious. But, of course, she can play gentle as well. . . . It is a great guitar for anybody."

(Some more info for guitarheads only: the fret inlays are bright red, and the 12th fret is marked by mother-of-pearl inlay hearts lying end to end.)

She got her own Melody Maker in 1977, the company says. It's the same model she played while in The Runaways, of course, and on all the Blackhearts hits we know and love.
