The Grammys are expected to return to New York in 2018 to celebrate the awards’ 60th anniversary at Madison Square Garden, according to published reports.
The Recording Academy last held the music awards ceremony in New York in 2003 before taking up residency at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. However, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration waged a serious lobbying and fundraising campaign to encourage the Academy to return in 2018, according to the New York Times.
A spokeswoman from Madison Square Garden declined to comment. However, a final decision could come as early as Tuesday when the 2017 Grammy nominations are announced.
