'Idol' tour to travel to Jones Beach

To match this year's unpredictable season, the "American Idols Live!" tour is mixing things up a bit, too, set for Nikon at Jones Beach Theater for the first time.

Though we won't know who wins for another month, the Top 10 Idols for the tour have been set for weeks - Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban.

The tour kicks off July 1 in Auburn Hills, Mich., and hits Jones Beach on July 7 for a rare outdoor appearance. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 15 through livenation.com. Tour organizers are planning to release a limited number of four-ticket packages for $75 at certain venues, but it is not yet clear whether Jones Beach will be one of them.

Aside from the venue switch from Nassau Coliseum, where the previous eight tours stopped, this year's Long Island date is much earlier in the tour than usual. In the past, the tour's area stops have been in late July or August, giving the finalists some time to settle into a touring rhythm before hitting the major media markets.

"We are all looking forward to this year's 'American Idol Live!' tour," Simon Fuller, "Idol" creator and executive producer said in a statement. "Each of the Idols have the chance to meet the people that voted for them and perform . . . all over America, another special moment in their developing careers."
