Remember that crazy-sounding revival of “Jesus Christ Superstar” – featuring Johnny Rotten as King Herod, Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams as Mary Magdalane and 'NSync’s JC Chasez as Pontius Pilate – that was set for an arena tour this summer?

Yeah, it’s not happening.

The 50-show tour, which included a stop at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 5, has been cancelled. Organizers didn’t give a reason for pulling the plug before the tour’s scheduled launch in New Orleans on June 9.

Refunds will be automatically given for tickets purchased online and over the telephone with credit cards. Tickets purchased from venue box offices or other outlets must be returned to that location for refund.
