Folk-rock legend Joan Baez, who turned 75 on Saturday, will celebrate her birthday with a star-studded concert at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre on Jan. 27, commencing an 18-city North American tour. David Bromberg, Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Damien Rice, Paul Simon, Mavis Staples, Richard Thompson and Nano Stern are scheduled to appear, with the show later airing on PBS’ “Great Performances.” As she has done before on tour, Baez is “joining forces with Amnesty International,” she said in a statement, “this time on the critical and urgent issue of racial and ethnic disparities of incarceration, right here in the United States.”
