Kiss, Def Leppard join forces for summer tour, Jones Beach stop

Kiss and Def Leppard will join forces for a summer amphitheater tour that includes a stop at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 6.

“This is our 40th anniversary tour,” Kiss singer/guitarist Paul Stanley said at a news conference today. “We couldn’t have a better band with us than Def Leppard.”

The tour starts June 23 in Utah and runs through Aug. 31 in Texas, marking the first time the veteran rockers have performed together.

“People come to see us because they know they’re going to have a great night,” Stanley said. “Both these bands know how to go out there and deliver the goods. We’re proud to be going out together because of that.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through Live Nation. Pre-sale tickets will be available to members of the military and the bands’ fan clubs starting tomorrow and to Citi cardholders starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

In other tour pairings set for Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden announced plans to play there Aug. 1 and Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry will play there on June 14. Tickets for NIN/Soundgarden go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and Goos/Daughtry tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
