The announcement of this year’s Rock the Bells lineup reminds me that I will probably always give Lauryn Hill the benefit of the doubt.

Miss “Miseducation” is the special guest star of this year’s tour, which also includes Snoop Dogg doing “Doggystyle” in its entirety and all of the living original  members of the Wu Tang Clan doing all of “Enter the 36 Chambers” with ODB’s son Boy Jones filling in for his late father. A Tribe Called Quest has signed on to do “Midnight Marauders,” Rakim will do “Paid in Full” and KRS-One will do “Criminal Minded” and DJ Premier will honor the late Guru with a tribute to Gang Starr.

According to organizers, Hill will do a set drawn from her solo career, including “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” and from her time with The Fugees at the tour’s New York date (Aug. 28 on Governor’s Island) and at the Los Angeles (Aug. 21) and Washington D.C. (Aug. 29) stops. Will this tour mark L.Boogie’s triumphant return to form or be another high-profile disappointment? Hard to say, but how can you not root for her?

Tickets for the New York show go on sale Saturday through Pre-sale starts Friday.
