Raquel Castro is back on the Billboard charts.
The Port Jefferson Station native, best known for her run on “The Voice” and her recurring role on “Empire,” has cracked the Top 25 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart as the featured vocalist on Xenia Ghali’s single “Places” (Funky Sheep).
Castro’s distinctive vocals give life to the pop-leaning dance number from the Greek DJ Ghali, whose debut single “Under These Lights” topped the dance charts last year.
“I want to follow in the footsteps of my movie mama, J.Lo,” Castro recently said on “Good Day New York,” referring to her breakthrough role as Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s daughter in the movie “Jersey Girl” when she was 4 years old.
Castro also appears in the “Places” video looking mighty comfortable in front of the camera with Ghali and “Teen Wolf” star Ryan Kelley. After all, Castro has been focusing more on her acting recently, as her new movie “From Nowhere,” about a trio of Bronx immigrants, arrived in theaters last month.
However, music is still important to Castro, who jump-started her music career on “The Voice” and is currently working on material for a new album.
