Jac & Jill still laugh about looking at the Top 10 CD sales chart at Looney Tunes last month.
The Rolling Stones' reissue of "Exile on Main Street" was No. 1, followed by new albums from Deftones and The Dead Weather. And sitting at No. 4, Jac & Jill's eponymous debut that they released and promoted themselves.
"We were flabbergasted," adds guitarist Jill Winter. "Those are great artists that have been conquering the music industry for years."
Though they haven't conquered anything just yet, Deer Park-based duo Jac & Jill certainly have their sights set on big things and their debut album, featuring the catchy pop single "Can't Stop," should help.
"We just wanted to make a fun album," Quatela says. "We wanted to make it commercial and pop-driven and catchy."
Winter says their thought process for filling "Jac & Jill" with upbeat numbers like the rocking "Mm Mm Good" and the R&B-tinged "Listen" was simple. "People like to play what other people like to hear," she says, adding that the band has a more rock-oriented sound in concert. "That's why we enjoy playing pop music and why we love to play live."

"We love doing it on our own," Quatela says. "But we realize we can't be superwomen. We'll need some help to take us to that next level."
