Miley Cyrus and “Artist of the Year” nominees Lorde, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd, are set to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California, on Aug. 27.
Cyrus recently told Harper’s Bazaar that her infamous twerking VMA performance in 2013 at Barclays Center eventually weighed on her. “In the beginning, it was kind of like saying… ‘Girls should be able to have this freedom or whatever,’ ” she said. “But it got to a point where I did feel sexualized.”
Don’t expect a repeat of her wild antics this year, as her tamer, country-leaning “Malibu” is up for best pop video.
VMA host Katy Perry is also set to perform at the show, along with Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes and 30 Seconds to Mars.
Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees, with eight nominations, including artist of the year against Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and performers Lorde, Sheeran and The Weeknd. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
