Next weekend's inaugural MTK: Music to Know Festival in East Hampton has been canceled.
"Despite our unique vision and arranging a world-class line-up, ticket sales were not adequate to allow the event to continue," a representative for the festival said in a statement. "We wanted to let everyone know now before engaging more deeply."
Ticket holders should check musictoknow.com this week for information on refunds.
If you're an MTK ticketholder, you can show proof of purchase at Sunday's final Escape to New York festivities at the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton and get in for free.
"We just want to be courteous," Escape to New York representative Pam Workman said. "This is coming from the spirit of summer love."
MTK was to take place Aug. 13-14 on Runway 4 at the East Hampton Airport, and feature music by Vampire Weekend and Bright Eyes, as well as shopping, which was to include a fashion line launch from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and gourmet food trucks.
"Along with our ticket holders, vendors, sponsors, business associates, colleagues and friends in the community, we too are filled with deep disappointment," a statement from Fox Greenberg Public Relations read. "We pledge to endure during this difficult time with the same integrity and professionalism displayed throughout the creation of this event."
