Michael Jackson’s upcoming album “Michael” will feature collaborations with 50 Cent, Lenny Kravitz and Akon, whose duet with Jackson “Hold My Hand” will be the first single.
“Hold My Hand,” which Jackson apparently always wanted to be the lead single from the new album he was working on before his death last year, will premiere Monday on Jackson’s website and then be available at digital retailers.
“The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it,” Akon said in a statement. “But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”
“Hold My Hand” follows the online debut of “Breaking News” earlier this week, a newly completed song that felt a bit underwhelming.
“Michael” hits stores on Dec. 14.
