Ryan Star will play a secret show at Rockwood Music Hall on Friday night, as the Dix Hills native works on new material for his upcoming album.
Star recently signed to Wind-Up Records, after releasing his “Angels + Animals” album himself and scoring hits like “Start a Fire” and “Impossible” on major labels.
He announced the new signing in a poem, writing, “Fans became friends / They carried me to where I am today / They believe in me / Made a wish that some of those friends would have a record label / I signed to Wind-Up Records.”
Tickets for the show at the intimate Rockwood are $15-$22 and on sale now through Ticketfly, 877-987-6487, ticketfly.com. Before recording his major-label debut “11:59,” Star did a residency at Rockwood to test his new songs.
