Last summer, singer Sal Valentinetti, 21, of Bethpage, got his shot on “America’s Got Talent” when judge Heidi Klum hit the Golden Buzzer advancing him to the quarterfinals. On Friday, Valentinetti will drop his first release, “The Voice,” a six-song EP of standards.
“This is what people have been asking for,” he said. “I wanted to get something out there. It’s just a taste.”
Recorded at the Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with his band Black Tie Brass, Valentinetti chose favorites from his live set.
Here’s the breakdown on each song:
“The Way You Look Tonight”: “This one goes out to Heidi,” Valentinetti said. “She transformed my life. It’s my salute to her.”
“Sway”: “It was the first time I sat in rehearsal with the band and got a good rhythm going,” he said. “It’s one of our hottest songs.”
“More”: “This was a special request from my Aunt Theresa,” he said. “It’s one of my favorite love songs of all time.”
“Love Is a Many Splendored Thing”: “We recorded this with an orchestra,” he says. “It brings back a lot of memories for many people.”
“You Make Me Feel So Young”: “My personality is very loud, out there and in your face,” he says. “This song features that kind of attitude.”
“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”: “I did this on ‘AGT’ with the cast of ‘Jersey Boys,’ ” he says. “It was the moment for me when I crossed over.”
One song that is not in the track listing is the one that made him famous on “AGT” — “My Way.”
“It’s the piece de resistance,” Valentinetti said. “In order to get that one right with the feeling behind it, I need to do it in my live show where I can tell the story.”
There’s more to come from Valentinetti this year. His tour will play The Paramount in Huntington on Aug. 3, he will release a full-length Christmas album in October, and he said he shot a pilot for a reality show about his life on Long Island.
