Taking Back Sunday's Mark O'Connell threw his support behind the $400 million plan to build a new Nassau Coliseum for concerts and for New York Islanders hockey games. Earlier today, the Nassau County legislature passed a bill allowing the public to vote on the plan on Aug. 1.
“Growing up here, it was never a dream to play Madison Square Garden for me,” O'Connell said at a rally this morning. “It was a dream to play Nassau Coliseum and we got to do it. I'd like the chance to do it again at some point. Hopefully, it's at a nice new arena.”
It's an understandable wish for the Rockville Centre native and current Long Beach resident, especially considering how memorable the band's 2006 Nassau Coliseum concert was, with thousands of fans jumping the barricades to be closer to the band and become part of the largest mosh pit the Coliseum has probably ever seen.
