For 2019, The Who plans its first album of new songs in 13 years and a North American tour that includes stops at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater and Madison Square Garden.
The “Moving On!” tour — featuring Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend backed by a band that includes guitarist Simon Townshend and drummer Zak Starkey, as well as local orchestras — kicks off in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 7, and will touch down at Madison Square Garden on May 13. It reaches Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on Sept. 15.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.
“Roger christened this tour ‘Moving On!’ I love it,” Pete Townshend said in a statement. “It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose.”
Daltrey told fans to be ready to rock. “Just because it's The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music,” he said in a statement. “This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
