Britney Spears will perform live at MTV’s Video Music Awards when it hits Madison Square Garden on Aug. 28, MTV announced on Tuesday.

Spears will be performing her latest hit “Make Me,” off her forthcoming album, “Glory,” alongside G-Eazy.

This year will see the pop singer’s VMA comeback. It’s been nearly a decade since she last took the stage, singing her 2007 hit “Gimme More” during the ceremony in Las Vegas. The performance, which was supposed to be her big return to the music industry, drew mixed reactions from viewers and critics. Many felt she looked out of it, hardly dancing in her sparkled black bra outfit, and possibly lip-syncing.

Her past VMA appearances remain some of the most memorable in the show’s history: presenting Michael Jackson with the artist of the millennium award in 2002; that kiss with Madonna in 2003; and showing off her funny bone in the opening video in 2008, to name a few.

Spears also announced the big news on her social media accounts with a video teaser featuring none other than a yellow snake — a nod to her 2001 VMA performance of “Slave 4 U,” when she performed with a python around her shoulders.

“Before you know it, it’s history,” Spears says in the clip. “Before you know it, it’s Britney bitch.”

We can only hope this means the python will also be making a return to the VMA stage.
