Confirming what a news report claimed over the weekend, Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, said Tuesday that she has called off her wedding with Levi Johnston, the father of her 19-month-old son Tripp.

"It's over. I broke up with him," Palin, 19, told People magazine.

This second split follows a high-profile reconciliation splashed on the cover of Us magazine in mid-July. The breakup, Palin says, occurred July 14 - the same day she and Johnston, 20, announced their intention to marry - when Johnston told her he may have fathered a child with another woman. Palin did not name the woman, according to People, but a pregnant former girlfriend of Johnston's has publicly denied his paternity.

"The final straw was him flying to Hollywood for what he told me was to see some hunting show, but to find out it was that music video mocking my family," Palin said, referring to R&B/pop performer Brittani Senser's "After Love," in which Johnston, 20, played a young lover of whom his girlfriend's mother disapproves. Added Palin, "He's just obsessed with the limelight and I got played."

Reps for Johnston could not bereached for comment.

Sarah Palin told People, "I wish for Bristol to be able to move forward in life with her same forgiving, gracious, optimistic spirit, but from henceforth she'll know to trust but verify. Bristol is strong, she is independent, and she knows what is right for her son."

Word of the breakup first leaked on Friday, when E! News quoted a source saying Bristol Palin was upset over an interview by one of Johnston's ex-girlfriends, Briana Plum, in an unspecified publication. "Bristol wasn't happy about some of the things said," the source said.

Palin, who works as a medical assistant in Anchorage, said she's confident the right man will come along.

"Through this whole experience I know I need a man who's going to be completely honest with me and someone who loves me and Tripp and wants to be with him all the time. I also want someone who has religious beliefs and a good family."
