'Real Housewives of New Jersey' recap: Gorga-Giudice drama becomes exhausting

Keeping up with the family drama on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" has become exhausting.

One minute they hate each other. The next they're willing to make it work. Five minutes later, they're not ready to move on. But the emotional roller coaster took a turn with an unexpected early morning phone call during the Lake George, N.Y., retreat in Sunday's episode.

Teresa Giudice decided to call in reinforcements -- her former best friend Caroline Manzo. She asks Manzo to travel about four hours to the retreat to help sort things out, making it look like Teresa is employing a new tactic in this battle: Keep your family close, but your enemies closer.

Perhaps having Manzo present in the next episode will break up the monotony of the Gorga-Giudice brawl. When disputes have carried on for too long in the past (remember Danielle Staub?) new problems took over.

Maybe it's time for the show to focus on a different strained relationship -- we haven't really heard what's going on between Manzo and her little sister, former "RHONJ" castmate Dina, or what's happening with Jacqueline Laurita's daughter, Ashlee Holmes, now that she's moved across the country. There are other people on the show besides the Gorgas and Giudices.
