Taylor Swift sends a powerful message to bullies in her new video for the single, "Mean." The song is off the country singers' multiplatinum album, "Speak Now," and it is as poignant as it is catchy.
In the video, there are three different scenarios. One is a boy being harassed by an entire football team in high school, another is a young girl getting laughed at by a group of kids while she works at a fast food restaurant and last is a little girl being teased at a party by a larger group of young girls. While these teens go throw these horrible experiences, Swift sings, "Someday I'll be living in a big old city and all you're ever gonna be is mean. Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me and all you're ever gonna be is mean."
This is a very timely video because bullying in schools in an issue that continues to make headlines with some teens taking their own lives because the harassment is so severe.
Brava to Swift for this song and very heartfelt video. She encourages young people to look toward the future and know that they will be great and all those bullies will ever be is mean.
