Larry David back for 8th 'Curb' season

Larry David will be back for more comedy and angst when HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" returns for an eighth season, The Associated Press reports. David says the decision to do more was reached "after much soul-searching - and by the way, it was nowhere to be found." HBO said in its announcement Tuesday that the new episodes are slated to debut next year. . . . Meanwhile, Comedy Central announced Tuesday that late-night hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have agreed to contract extensions through 2013 and 2012, respectively.


Kal Penn says he was robbed in D.C.

Actor Kal Penn's agent confirms that the actor who played Kumar in the movie "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and had a recurring role on the Fox show "House" was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, D.C., the AP reports. The actor, whose given name is Kalpen Modi, is working in the White House's Office of Public Liaison. He is focusing on connecting President Barack Obama with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. Penn's agent Jennifer Goodwin confirmed a TMZ.com report that Penn was walking in the city at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday when a robber took his wallet and other items.


Connick to perform in concert this summer

Harry Connick Jr. is set to sing again on Broadway, the AP reports. Producers James L. Nederlander and Broadway Across America said Tuesday the singer would appear this summer in "Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway." It will be a limited engagement of 11 performances. Connick's show will run July 15-26 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Connick, a Grammy- and Emmy-winning recording artist, last appeared on Broadway in the 2006 Roundabout Theatre Company revival of "The Pajama Game."
